The General Assembly’s regular session adjourned just over one month ago, but we’ll be back in Richmond later this week for our constitutionally-mandated Reconvene Session. With a near record number of amendments and vetoes to consider, I’ve spent the last week or so carefully reviewing the Governor’s proposals so that I am ready to vote on Wednesday. I look forward to providing an update on our Reconvene Session in the future.

In the meantime, I am glad to get back in the swing of monthly email updates keeping you informed of what is happening both in your state government and here locally. March often is a quiet month in state government with everyone taking a quick breather after the business of the winter legislative session.

I hope you continue to find these updates informative and useful. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.

You may have seen media reports indicating that 23andMe is filing for bankruptcy. I know that many Virginians have utilized this company as part of their genealogical research efforts. For those who wish to take action to safeguard their data, now is the time to act.

Current Virginia law requires companies like 23andMe to delete genetic data at the request of the consumer. This action must be completed by the company within 30 days of the consumer’s request.

You can read more about protecting your data in this consumer alert from Attorney General Jason Miyares.

Chesterfield Transportation Projects

Did you know that transportation projects in Chesterfield are posted online for easy viewing? You can find a list of ongoing projects here. That includes a number of projects within the 74th district, as well as some you may encounter while driving elsewhere in the county.

Around the District

With the regular legislative session ending in February, fewer duties at the State Capitol mean I can spend more time in our district.

I joined First Lady Suzanne Youngkin in Colonial Heights for the ribbon cutting of Hannah’s Home. This newly renovated recovery residence will serve mothers and their children, providing them a safe space to learn life-building skills that will allow them to become successful mothers in society. Thank you to Regenesis for your invaluable work preparing this space and for the continued work you will do in our community.

Hannahs Home

The week of March 17 marked Community Champions Week with FeedMore. I joined several state and county colleagues in participating in FeedMore’s Meals on Wheels delivery in Chesterfield County. It was great to connect and speak with constituents along the delivery route.

I also had the opportunity to attend the Colonial Heights Police Department’s annual award banquet recognizing the outstanding work that law enforcement does for our community. Congratulations to Senior Detective Morgan Davis for being recognized as officer of the year!
